Nocturnal Wonderland Texas 2012 (lineup update!!!)

Phase 1 of the 2012 lineup

The first phase of this year’s lineup has been announced and it looks amazing!!! As you can tell from the flyer there are some HUGE acts on the bill already with the promise of even more to come! Stay tuned!

I’ve had the absolute pleasure of performing at the first two Nocturnal Festivals that took place in Downtown, Texas at Apache Pass. I’ve played some big events, but there is a certain energy and excitement of being at these events. It might be playing on the same bill with big artists such as Kid Cudi, Bassnectar, Ghostland Observatory, Chase & Status, Laidback Luke, Armin Van Burren, and more. It could as also be the 20,000 plus spectators in attendance. Either way, Insomniac events spares no expense in making these events amazing. So many lights, amazing sound and great lineups are the perfect formula for creating unforgettable memories.

Nocturnal Wonderland Texas 2012 will take place on April 27-28, 2012.

Tickets are available by clicking HERE

Hope to see y’all there!!!

Ultimate Music Experience 2012

Although I didnt attend last year’s festivities (having too good of a time at SXSW), many friends and fellow area DJs expressed how much of a great time they had. The pictures dont lie with thousands in attendance. I’ll get to experience the thrill first hand when I share the stage with fellow Brownsvillain, Dj Cyfa on Thursday, March 15th! Headliners for that night will be Hardwell and probably the biggest Dj of all-time, Tiestö.

Other major acts include grammy award-winning Skrillex, Avicci, Cazzette, Porter Robinson, Madeon and more!

Thousands of tickets have been sold and are expected to sell out before the event!!! With Insomniac and Sugar Society’s support, Global Groove Events will be able to provide a unique and memorable event and quite possibly the biggest South Texas has ever seen.

This 3-day music fest will take place from March 15th – 17th at Schlitterbahn water park in South Padre Island, TX.

The Brownsvillains

from left to right: Freddy Vasquez aka Cyfa, me, Omar Rivera aka Fresco

Coming from a small town, it’s tougher to get notoriety. Luckily for me I’ve had the fortune of becoming friends with some dedicated and driven individuals. Sure, we haven’t made it to ‘the top”, but we can sure say we’ve been somewhere. The Brownsvillains came about much earlier than people think. For 10+ years we’ve been close friends and have been through quite a few ups and downs together. Along the way we’ve been a part of some of the biggest events in the US and the world for that matter. Our biggest drive is each other. We’ve been our biggest critics and also our greatest support group.

It wasn’t until late 2010 that we decided to put a name, a “brand” you could say, on our bond. The Brownsvillains came about because we carry a great sense of pride in where we’re from. The Rio Grande Valley is full of great talent in music, comedy, acting, art and much more. And in my honest opinion I feel Brownsville is constantly overlooked. Our hometown is growing, and with it so are we. You can find us at the hottest spots all week, performing throughout the RGV, opening up for headliners at the biggest EDM events, and consistently dj’ing in cities outside of the Rio Grande Valley. We’re confident to say that we’re the most accomplished group of DJs to come out of the RGV.

We sincerely appreciate the immense support from our friends and family. We continue to strive to new heights and there’s no stopping.

The EDM scene has reached new heights. Massive festivals are back in play, the radio is jammed with electronic music and most every club and bar features a DJ that spins dance music. Expect more notoriety and publicity from ALL major media outlets. This is only the beginning.

Moombahton mini mix

Image

The first time i heard moombahton was when one of my favorite DJs, Tittsworth (www.tittsworth.com) was playing in Mcallen, TX near my hometown. Jesse was surprised that noone really reacted to it considering the region is primarily hispanic. Unfortunately, our generation in deep South Texas are slow to embrace new genres and are heavily dependent on radio play. Nonetheless, it was love at first hear for me. Shortly after, I started searching for more moombah only to realize it was too fresh to collect tracks. At the time, the big hitters were Dave Nada, Heartbreak and Munchi. Presently, moombahton has hit the rest of the world hard and continues to grow. Check the mix!

Naked Friday Mix

I had the pleasure of making a mix for the Naked Friday radio show on UTB Sting Radio. Mix contains moombahton, house, electro, dutch and a bit of drum ‘n’ bass. Many thanks to the beautiful Hada Catalina for inviting me over. Had a blast during the broadacast!

Fellow Brownsvillain and close friend, Omar “Fresco” Rivera, has recently opened up his own blog. This dude is on fiyah! Recently, he opened up for Method Man in SLC, Utah alongside bandmates, Flea Circus (www.facebook.com/fleacircusmusic). His quick, yet technical mixing his style has earned him opening spots for the likes of Lil’ Wayne and Young Money, A-Trak, Dj Craze and Planet of the Drums (Dieselboy, Dara, & AK1200).
